Project #1 Progress

I chose Ellen DenGeneres, an American comedian, talk-show host, author, actress, and producer, to my popular culture icon. The three artifacts I chose to analyze rhetorically would include ED by Ellen, Ellentube, and Seriously, I'm Kidding. These artifacts are characterized as a lifestyle brand, website, and book respectively. My paper begins with a very brief introduction including a thesis statement. Each analysis of the three artifacts designate a separate paragraph with individual breakdowns in each. The paper ends with a conclusion, which ties everything together. I plan to discuss why my subject matter has importance. I have enjoyed this assignment thus far because I love learning about people and their backgrounds. Ellen DeGeneres certainly has an interesting biography. Although I have never read it, I discuss Ellen's book, Seriously, I'm Kidding, in my paper. After doing research, I have found that this is a book I would actually want to read in my free time. I enjoy her relaxed writing style and humor. The biggest challenge of this first project has been accurately rhetorically analyzing each artifact, such as deciding on the appropriate audience and elements of the genre. Another challenge has been properly citing my sources throughout the text to avoiding plagiarizing topics that are not common knowledge.
