My research question is the following: Are self-operating motor vehicles beneficial or detrimental to society?
I am interested in researching if this fairly new form of technology has benefits that out way the costs. Is a car that has the ability to operate without human interference really safer, better for the environment, cost effective, and more convenient? What are the possible implications? I know that there are people that are asking the same questions I am. An individual that I followed on twitter in order to see similar research was Sans Driver. He has almost 3,000 tweets followers. This account is run by a vehicle and mobility enthusiast who is constantly posting articles and news updates about self-driving cars. I specifically like this account because the posts, which include a variety of genres, such as articles, videos, pictures, polls, etc. feature both sides of the autonomous debate. This means that he not only shows points of views that favor self-driving cars, but also, shows points of views that are against self-driving cars. He posts about ways self-driving cars can help the environment and economy etc. He also shares articles about when self-driving cars are the cause of automobile accidents. His twitter contains the link to his website (http://www.sansdriver.net), which serves as an instrument for aggregating the self-driving vehicle and mobility technology information found on his main twitter account. On another note, I also followed Oliver Cameron on Twitter because he is the leading member and Vice President of the self-driving car team at Udacity. He recently announced his leading role in developing Voyage, which is a new company working towards a self-driving taxi service. I am a follower of Oliver Cameron on Twitter because it is useful to my research paper as he is considered an expert in the field. His posts are both educational and creditable.
