Visual/text-based Persuasive Genre:

The above image is an advertisement released by the company, Coca-Cola, to persuade consumers to favor and purchase their soda product over their main competitor, Pepsi. The audience includes those who enjoy drinking soda beverages. It could be specifically directed at those who buy Pepsi products over Coke products. The rhetorical appeal of pathos is used by evoking feelings of desire and favoritism in order to persuade consumers to purchase their product. It uses a digital media and text-based/visual mode. The design has the image of a Pepsi can pretending to be a super-hero by wearing a Coke cape. The image, located at direct center, is a main feature of this ad and draws people in, capturing their attention right away. It is the first thing viewers see when they look at this advertisement. The words at the top, "Everybody wants to be a superhero", emphasizes the superiority of Coke products over Pepsi products. The background is simple and has dark coloring in order to keep the focus on the main image of the Pepsi can and cape. The brand name, Coca-Cola, with its signature curvy style of font, is featured at the bottom right corner as well.
